Eat like the locals!
Pull into a fast food joint or experience the unique spices and flavors at a mom-and-pop restaurant in Morgan City. Got a taste for authentic South Louisiana Cajun or Creole cuisine? Get fresh shrimp at the Morgan City wharf or get your hands on fresh, live or boiled seafood at one of the local restaurants. Sit down at a local chicken shack, fill up on a soul food meal, delight in an authentic Mexican meal, enjoy a four-course meal at a fine, Italian dining establishment or taste the best steak in town at a local eatery. Learn why we’re the small town with big flavor.
Try a few dishes made popular by the locals.
Adult beverages
Sip sip and sip some more. It's no holds barred during happy hour at Don Jose's where the drinks pull no punches. Truthfully, they're more like a KO.
Clint Burger
When a burger is this good, it gets its own name. The Clint Burger is a mouth-watering favorite. Be sure to thank the cook. Ms. Rita Mae is pretty famous.
Crab Burger
Bite into Rita Mae's version of a crabby pattie. The restaurant has a laundry list of good meals, but once you taste the crab burger, you’ll say bye bye to beef.
Crawfish
Get your fill of crawfish from a longtime local favorite. Susie’s Seafood has got you covered for your next boil on the bayou.
Cuban sandwich with fries
Ham, pork, swiss cheese, pickles, mayo and mustard. Hungry yet? Then, eat at Paco’s Sandwich Shop. And, don’t skip out on their signature fries.
Fried Green Beans
Fried green beans are typically a side dish at Atchafalaya Cafe, but once you get it, you’ll want it as an entree.
Fried chicken and dirty rice
Danny’s Fried Chicken is not hard to miss. Look for the bright orange sign with the little boy enjoying a piece of their widely-craved piece of chicken.
Gumbo
Gumbo is often considered a cold-weather staple meal. But, in Morgan City, gumbo can be eaten any time, anywhere. It is the quintessential one-pot meal.
Jambalaya
Just like Morgan City, jambalaya is a mash up of different cultural influences in one pot. Fill up on chicken, sausage or shrimp jambalaya.
Mardi Gras Burger
“Throw me something, Mister.” How about a Mardi Gras Burger from Castalano's? The locals swear by this holiday-inspired burger.
Pancakes
Breakfast anyone? How about breakfast anytime you want? Order The Galley’s massive stacks of delicious pancakes any morning, afternoon or night.
Psycho Pig
Don’t lose your mind over this dish. Unlike it’s name, the Psycho Pig is pretty good! Eastgate BBQ is where you’ll find this maniac of a deal.
Santa Fe Salad with shrimp
Santa Fe Salad with shrimp and homemade ranch dressing. And, throw in a side of Sidewinder Fries. Don’t judge. It’s worth the trip to Morgan’s Restaurant.
Snowball
Cool down with a soft ice, sweet-flavored concoction from the Dugout Snowball Stand. Go for the traditional Strawberry or mix it up with your own flavors.
Stuffed chicken
Stuffed chicken breast over a bed of Rotini with cornbread dressing and green beans. In. that. order. Stop over at the Original Castalano’s.
